Falling in Love with Your Fitness Routine
Don’t Be Afraid to Commit to Your Health By: Madyson Callion
It isn’t easy to start and continue your fitness journey. Life moves especially fast and finding that perfect routine for you can be very difficult. Have you ever wanted to try a new workout? Or implement meditation and yoga into your hectic routine? Or wanted to balance mom-life with work and exercise? Don’t lose hope.
Adding in a new part of a routine can be very daunting. We all have systemic ways of doing things and we know the order that they are done in our day. Throwing in a 30-minute workout can be a jarring aspect to an otherwise highly-functional schedule.
The first tip is to plan your day out by time. This gives you the opportunity to see your day structured out and also to identify those parts of your day where you have wiggle room.
The second tip is to keep yourself accountable. This sounds a little intimidating, but it plainly means just making sure that you know you have exercise sculpted in each day and if you make that commitment to yourself, keep it. This could be in the form of an iPhone reminder set as an affirmation. It could be in little sticky notes on your laptop, refrigerator, and mirror. That way if you forget you remind yourself of your own commitment to your fitness journey.
The third and final tip is to remember that everyone's fitness journey will look different. Being committed to your fitness journey isn’t easy and it is very easy to compare yourself to others. But always remember: everyone struggles and deals with their fitness journey their own way. Comparing yourself to others won’t do anything but cause you to psych yourself out. Keeping your positive affirmations is a great way to keep that positive self-talk going and build positive associations between yourself, your attitude, and your fitness journey.
